Sandy,
Like rust my diabetes never sleeps. Its assault on my eyes, my nervous system and major organs is relentless.
Therefore, reading your link, your story, your resourcefulness and your courage are an inspiration...maybe a moment of epiphany, in a broad context, for me and probably all who read it.
Your triumph and ingenuity are a model and metaphor for all who battle the darker side of the human condition.
For your Mediterranean magic, I thank you.

Dear Sandy,
My name is Alyssa and I don't have rheumatoid arthritis, but my mom was diagnosed with it in March of 1995. I was only 4 years old when it happened, but the doctors said my mom had probably first developed it in the early 1980s because it was already progressing into the severe stages. I've been taking care of my mom since I was 6 years old, cleaning the house, mowing the yard, when I was 8 I had to help her through out her first knee replacement surgery. I'm 17 now and a senior in high school and at my school we do senior projects in order to graduate. The topic I chose to research was the physical, emotional and financial challenges victims of RA and their families face. I was hoping to get an interview from someone who is going through it because we are not allowed to use family members. I would really enjoy your insight and learning more of your story and personal struggles. If you could please send me an e-mail letting me know I would appreciate it. My e-mail address is hammanalyssa@yahoo.com

Thank you
